2027 Moon Phase Calendar

I am so excited to finally share the 2027 Moon Phase Calendar!

Making this calendar has become such a big part of my year, and I've been so eager to finally share it with you!

I spent a little over three months sketching ideas and honing in on the design, drawing the final layout onto the carving block, carving and carving and carving, test printing, carving some more, and printing and printing and printing! It’s quite the process. But I made it to the finish line!

This year, I thought it would be fun to take notes along the way so I’d have some stats to look back on. Here are a few of the standouts:

  • Project timeline: August 8 – October 14

  • Digital sketching: 5 hours

  • Drawing and formatting the design onto the carving block: 10 hours

  • Carving time: 28 hours! (My prediction was 30.)

  • Moons carved: After three years of carving this calendar, I’ve carved 1,095 moons, and I’m still not good at carving circles.

  • Audiobooks listened to: Five!Slaughterhouse-Five — Kurt VonnegutLa Lacuna — Barbara KingsolverAll the Way to the River — Elizabeth GilbertDemon Copperhead — Barbara KingsolverCirce — Madeline Miller

Yay for stats! I didn’t document the process with photos as much this year, so it’s nice to have these notes to look back on and remember just how much goes into making each calendar.

Mapping out the moons.

The carving process begins.
